Activating transcription factor 4 pseudogene 1 (ATF4P1) is a human pseudogene, meaning it is a segment of DNA related to the ATF4 gene, but it does not encode a functional protein[3][5]. It is sometimes referred to by the aliases TAXREB67P, ATF4P, and TXREBP. Pseudogenes like ATF4P1 typically arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition events and do not produce proteins with biological activity. Consequently, ATF4P1 has no known biological function, disease association, or role as a therapeutic target. This name is sometimes confused with the true functional gene ATF4, which is a key transcription factor in cellular stress responses; ATF4P1, however, is nonfunctional and should not be considered a biological or pharmacological target[3][5].
