ABT1 is conserved across species (protein homologs in mouse, yeast, and C. elegans), and in yeast, its ortholog is essential for growth, indicating a fundamental role in basal gene expression[1]. The protein participates in transcriptional regulation but is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target, and its involvement in disease is limited to rare mendelian disorders[2][3][8].
