Target intelligence / Profile preview
Activin A is a homodimeric protein belonging to the TGF-β superfamily. It plays diverse roles in hormone regulation, tissue morphogenesis, inflammation, and neural/reproductive roles. It signals through ActRIIA/ActRIIB receptors, leading to Smad-dependent transcriptional regulation. Its activity is regulated by inhibins and other factors.
Activin A binds to ActRIIA/ActRIIB receptors, which then recruit ALK4/ActRIB, leading to Smad-dependent transcriptional regulation.
