Activin Receptor-Like Kinase 7 (ALK7) is a type I serine/threonine kinase receptor belonging to the TGF-β superfamily. Primarily expressed in adipose tissue, ALK7 plays a key role in metabolic regulation, inhibiting lipolysis and promoting fat accumulation. It also induces apoptosis in specific cell types, including pancreatic beta cells and trophoblasts. Targeting ALK7 is being explored as a potential therapeutic strategy for obesity, diabetes, and cancer.
