Activin Type IIB Receptor (ActR2B)

Target
ActR2B
Molecular classification
Receptor, Transmembrane serine/threonine kinase, TGF-beta superfamily
01

Overview

The activin type IIB receptor (ActR2B, also known as ACVR2B) is a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase receptor that belongs to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily. It plays a central role in mediating signals from various ligands, including activins and myostatin, which are involved in numerous physiological processes such as muscle growth regulation, cell differentiation, homeostasis, osteogenesis, apoptosis, and more. Blocking ActR2B signaling can increase skeletal muscle mass and improve functional strength in models of muscular dystrophy.
