Target intelligence / Profile preview
Activities of daily living (ADLs) are routine tasks essential for independent living, including eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and moving (ambulating or transferring)[1][2][3][6]. ADLs are used clinically to assess a person's functional status, especially in geriatrics and rehabilitation. In addition to basic ADLs, "instrumental activities of daily living" (IADLs) describe more complex tasks necessary for independent community living, such as managing money, preparing meals, shopping, and handling medications[1][2][4][6]. Inability to perform ADLs commonly prompts support or intervention, but "activities of daily living" is not a biological or pharmacological target[2][6].
