ADAM metallopeptidase domain 32 (ADAM32)

Target
ADAM32
Molecular classification
Enzyme (metalloendopeptidase family), disintegrin family, non-catalytic metalloprotease-like protein
01

Overview

ADAM metallopeptidase domain 32 (ADAM32) is a member of the disintegrin and metalloproteinase (ADAM) family, which consists of membrane-anchored proteins involved in diverse physiological processes including cell adhesion, migration, and signaling[1][2][3]. ADAM32 is predominantly expressed in the testis and may play a specialized role in sperm development and fertilization[1][4]. Unlike many family members, ADAM32 is considered non-catalytic (lacking proteolytic activity), meaning it primarily mediates protein–protein interactions rather than functioning as an active sheddase or protease[4]. Its gene is located on human chromosome 8 and undergoes alternative splicing to produce several isoforms[1]. While other ADAM family members are implicated in cancer, inflammation, and other diseases, there is currently no direct evidence linking ADAM32 to specific human pathologies, nor are there any approved drugs that directly target it.
