ADAM metallopeptidase domain 9 (ADAM9) is a membrane-anchored protein and a member of the ADAM family of metalloproteases. It plays a role in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions through its metalloprotease and disintegrin domains. It is involved in ectodomain shedding of various cell surface proteins, regulating signaling pathways. ADAM9 is implicated in cancer progression, retinal diseases and inflammation. It is upregulated by ROS and hydrogen peroxide.
