ADAMTS16 divergent transcript (ADAMTS16-DT) is a long non-coding RNA gene located near the protein-coding gene ADAMTS16. As a divergent lncRNA, it is transcribed in the opposite direction from a nearby protein-coding gene, which is typical of its class[5]. While the protein-coding ADAMTS16 gene encodes a member of the ADAMTS (A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin motifs) family and is involved in processes such as extracellular matrix maintenance and development[1], ADAMTS16-DT itself does not code for a protein and is affiliated with regulatory RNA functions. Its precise biological role and involvement in human disease are not well characterized, and it is not considered a direct therapeutic target[2][4][5][6].
