Overview

ADARB2 antisense RNA 1 (ADARB2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA located on human chromosome 21. It does not encode a protein but has important roles in regulating gene expression at the RNA level. ADARB2-AS1 is implicated in several biological processes, including regulation of RNA metabolism, cell proliferation, and cellular differentiation. Aberrant expression of ADARB2-AS1 has been linked to diseases such as various cancers (where it may promote cell growth, invasion, or metastasis), neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease (potentially contributing to neuronal damage and cell death), and metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity (through possible disruption of metabolic pathways). Genetic variants in ADARB2-AS1 have been associated with increased risk for some diseases, notably Alzheimer’s disease. No direct drug-targeting or biomarker use is currently established in the literature for this molecule.
