Overview

The ADCY6 divergent transcript (ADCY6-DT) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) gene. It is termed “divergent” because it is transcribed in the opposite direction from the nearby protein-coding ADCY6 gene. ADCY6-DT is not known to encode a protein, function as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor, and it is not currently recognized as a therapeutic target. There are currently no data establishing its biological function, involvement in disease, or interactions with drugs. It is distinct from ADCY6, the gene encoding adenylyl cyclase 6, a membrane-bound enzyme with established physiological and disease relevance[7]. ADCY6-DT is listed as a RNA gene in gene databases, classified as a divergent transcript of ADCY6[7]. No experimental or clinical data supports a functional, signaling, or drug target role for ADCY6-DT at this time. Information about this transcript is very limited; its gene entry is distinct from the protein-coding ADCY6, which is an adenylate cyclase enzyme widely studied for its role in cAMP signaling[1][3][4][5]. There is a risk of confusing ADCY6-DT (a lncRNA) with ADCY6 (adenylate cyclase 6, a major therapeutic target); these are distinct entities, with only the latter being a validated enzyme target. ADCY6-DT (ADCY6 divergent transcript) is a long noncoding RNA with no established functions, targetability, or drug relevance, and should not be confused with the protein-coding ADCY6 enzyme. The entry contains little actionable scientific or medical information and is not a conventional drug target[7].
