ADD3-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA transcript

Overview

ADD3 antisense RNA 1 (ADD3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA located on human chromosome 10 that functions mainly as an antisense transcript regulating the protein-coding gene ADD3 (adducin 3)[5][3]. It is implicated in the control of cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and inflammation[1][2]. Altered ADD3-AS1 levels have been linked to liver fibrosis, especially in the context of biliary atresia, as well as to several cancers, cardiovascular, neurological, and inflammatory diseases[1][2][7]. Its regulatory function occurs via gene expression modulation, often affecting ADD3 and related molecular pathways. ADD3-AS1 is considered a potential biomarker for specific disease states, notably liver fibrosis in infants with biliary atresia[1][7]. There are no known drug interactions or direct therapies targeting ADD3-AS1.
