The adenosine A₂A receptor (ADORA2A) is a G protein-coupled receptor that primarily mediates its effects through activation of stimulatory G proteins (Gs), leading to increased intracellular cAMP levels. It is expressed widely in the brain—especially in striatum—and also found in immune cells such as CD8+ T cells and mast cells. It plays roles in neurotransmitter release, motor control, cardiac function modulation, and immunomodulation, making it a therapeutic target for Parkinson's disease and cancer immunotherapy.
