The adenosine A2B receptor (ADORA2B) is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds adenosine. It is involved in various physiological processes, including regulation of vascular tone and modulation of immune responses. A2BR signaling has been implicated in diseases such as cancer, renal disease, diabetes, vascular disease, and lung disease. Blockade of the A2BR enhances lymphocyte proliferation and function, suggesting therapeutic potential for overcoming immune suppression by tumors.
Agonists stimulate adenylate cyclase activity, increasing intracellular cAMP levels. Antagonists block adenosine binding and downstream signaling.
