Overview

Adenosine receptors are a family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that mediate the physiological actions of adenosine, an endogenous purine nucleoside involved in numerous biological processes. There are four well-characterized subtypes of adenosine receptors: A1 (ADORA1), A2A (ADORA2A), A2B (ADORA2B), and A3 (ADORA3). Each subtype is encoded by a distinct gene and exhibits unique tissue distribution, pharmacological properties, and signaling mechanisms. They are important drug targets across multiple therapeutic areas due to their widespread physiological roles.
