The Adenovirus Death Protein (ADP), also known as E3-11.6K, is a small membrane glycoprotein encoded by the E3 region of adenoviruses. ADP is expressed at high levels during the very late phase of lytic adenoviral infection and plays a critical role in mediating efficient cell lysis and release of progeny virus particles from infected cells. It is also utilized in oncolytic virotherapy to enhance tumor-killing activity.
ADP promotes cell lysis, leading to the release of viral particles. In oncolytic virotherapy, ADP overexpression enhances tumor cell death.
