Target intelligence / Profile preview
Adenovirus serotype 4 (Ad4) is a non-enveloped DNA virus belonging to the Adenoviridae family. It infects epithelial tissues and can cause acute respiratory disease in humans, particularly in military recruits. In poultry, FAdV-4 causes hydropericardium-hepatitis syndrome. Ad4 is used as a vector in gene therapy and vaccine development, leveraging its immunogenicity, but pre-existing immunity and potential safety concerns need to be considered.
