Adenylate cyclase type 2 (None)

Target
None
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Adenylyl cyclase
01

Overview

Adenylate cyclase type 2 (ADCY2) is a membrane-associated enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of ATP to cyclic AMP (cAMP), a crucial secondary messenger in various signaling pathways. It is primarily expressed in the brain and plays a role in neurotransmission, hormone action, and cellular responses to external stimuli. ADCY2 is regulated by G-protein signaling and requires magnesium ions for its activity. Altered regulation of ADCY2 has been associated with neurological functions.
