Adenylate kinase 7 (AK7) is a protein-coding enzyme that belongs to the adenylate kinase family and is involved in cellular energy homeostasis through catalysis of the reversible transfer of a phosphate group between nucleoside triphosphates and monophosphates. It has highest activity towards adenosine monophosphate (AMP) and weaker activity towards other nucleoside monophosphates. AK7 plays a crucial role in the maintenance of ciliary structure and function, and mutations in this gene are associated with diseases such as primary ciliary dyskinesia and certain forms of male infertility[2][5][1][4].
