Target intelligence / Profile preview
Adenylylsulfatase is an enzyme (EC 3.6.2.1) belonging to the hydrolase family, specifically acting on acid anhydrides in sulfonyl-containing anhydrides[4]. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of adenylyl sulfate to yield AMP and sulfate, participating in sulfur metabolism in various organisms. The systematic name of this enzyme is adenylyl-sulfate sulfohydrolase, and alternative names include adenosine 5-phosphosulfate sulfohydrolase and adenylylsulfate sulfohydrolase[4]. It is distinct from other sulfur metabolism enzymes such as adenylyl-sulfate reductase and adenylyl-sulfate kinase, with its main role being to cleave adenylyl sulfate and regulate sulfate availability. There are no well-documented drug interactions, therapeutic applications, or known roles in human disease, but it plays a critical part in basic sulfur biochemistry in cells[4].
