ADGB divergent transcript (ADGB-DT) refers to a noncoding RNA produced by divergent transcription at the promoter region of the ADGB gene. Divergent transcription is a phenomenon wherein active gene promoters initiate transcription in both sense and antisense directions, often giving rise to a long noncoding RNA from the antisense direction[2][1]. Such transcripts are often unstable, lowly expressed, and their biological significance remains largely unclear. In some cases, divergent lncRNAs have been linked to regulation of gene expression—typically of adjacent transcription factors or development-related genes—but there is currently no evidence that ADGB-DT functions as an independent molecular target or pharmacological entity[2][4]. The term "ADGB divergent transcript" is used in transcriptomics to denote such antisense, noncoding RNAs but does not indicate a validated protein-coding gene or druggable target.
