Overview

ADGRD1 antisense RNA 1 (ADGRD1-AS1), also known as LACAT8, is a non-coding RNA gene identified in current RNA gene databases and the NCBI Gene index (ID: 105755954)[2]. It is categorized as a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), and has been annotated as "lung adenocarcinoma-associated transcript 8," with expression data suggesting relevance to lung adenocarcinoma, though its precise function remains incompletely characterized[2][3][5]. Unlike protein-coding targets, lncRNAs are generally involved in gene regulation, modulating gene expression, chromatin state, or transcript stability. There is currently no evidence that ADGRD1-AS1 encodes a receptor, enzyme, or direct therapeutic target, nor are there known drug interactions, mechanisms of action, or established biomarker or safety roles at this time[2][3][5]. ADGRD1-AS1 should not be confused with ADGRD1 (GPR133), which is a protein-coding gene encoding an adhesion G protein-coupled receptor that has a recognized role in glioblastoma and is considered a potential drug target[1][4][6]. ADGRD1-AS1 is the antisense RNA corresponding to this locus, with its own distinct regulatory and potentially disease-related functions as a non-coding transcript. There is no evidence indicating ADGRD1-AS1 is a classic druggable target such as a receptor, enzyme, or ion channel, nor that any drugs target this lncRNA specifically at this time[2][3][5].
