Overview

The process is further modulated by various signaling pathways including cAMP-dependent protein kinase pathways, glucocorticoid signaling, Wnt/β-catenin signaling (which inhibits adipogenesis), Hedgehog signaling[7], calpain-mediated proteolysis[2], chaperone-mediated autophagy[5], redox mechanisms[6], extracellular matrix remodeling, and cell-cell interactions. Dysregulation in this pathway contributes significantly to diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes due to abnormal fat cell development or function.
