Adipogenesis regulatory factor (ADIRF) is a small protein predominantly expressed in adipose (fat) tissue, where it plays an important role in promoting differentiation of preadipocytes into mature adipocytes by inducing expression of key transcription factors such as PPARG and CEBPA at early stages of adipogenesis[2][4]. It is not a classical receptor, enzyme, or transcription factor. Its functions are closely tied to fat cell biology, with potential connections to cancer therapy response—specifically, its overexpression is associated with resistance to the chemotherapeutic drug cisplatin[2][5]. Although highly specific to adipose tissue, its complete physiological functions and mechanisms remain incompletely characterized.
