Adiponectin Receptor 1 (AdipoR1)

Target
AdipoR1
Molecular classification
Receptor, Progestin and adipoQ receptor (PAQR) family, Seven-transmembrane receptor
01

Overview

Adiponectin receptor 1 (AdipoR1) is a protein that acts as a major cellular receptor for adiponectin, an essential hormone secreted by adipocytes that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. Upon ligand binding, it activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathways, leading to increased fatty acid oxidation and glucose uptake in cells. Dysfunction or downregulation of the ADIPOR pathway is implicated in metabolic diseases.
