AdipoR2 is a cell surface receptor for adiponectin, a hormone secreted by adipocytes that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. It binds adiponectin and activates downstream signaling pathways including AMPK and PPAR-alpha, promoting fatty acid oxidation, glucose uptake, and improved insulin sensitivity. AdipoR2 also plays a role in maintaining membrane fluidity.
Upon binding adiponectin, stimulates AMPK and PPAR-alpha pathways to increase fatty acid oxidation, glucose uptake, and improve lipid metabolism.
