Adiponectin Receptor Protein 1 (ADIPOR1)

Target
ADIPOR1
Molecular classification
Receptor, PAQR family receptor, Seven-transmembrane receptor
01

Overview

Adiponectin Receptor Protein 1 (ADIPOR1) is a key receptor for adiponectin, a hormone secreted by adipocytes. It mediates the metabolic effects of adiponectin, including activation of AMPK pathways, regulation of glucose uptake and fatty acid oxidation, and modulation of lipid metabolism, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Dysregulation of adiponectin signaling through ADIPOR1 is implicated in obesity-related diseases such as type II diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease.

Other names
PAQR1Progestin and adipoQ receptor family member 1
02

Mechanism of action

Agonist or antagonist binding to the adiponectin receptor, modulating downstream signaling pathways such as AMPK and PPAR-α to regulate glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, and inflammation.

05

Safety considerations

Potential for off-target effects due to structural similarities with other PAQR family members.Desensitization of the receptor through phosphorylation, requiring strategies to overcome this limitation.Further research is needed to clarify all downstream signalling effects
