Adiponectin receptor protein 2 (ADIPOR2)

Target
ADIPOR2
Molecular classification
Progestin and adipoQ receptor (PAQR) family, Receptor, Transmembrane receptor
01

Overview

Adiponectin receptor protein 2 (ADIPOR2) is a receptor for adiponectin, a hormone secreted by adipocytes that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. It is a seven-transmembrane protein that activates AMPK and PPAR-alpha pathways upon adiponectin binding. ADIPOR2 plays a role in antidiabetic and antiatherogenic processes. It is also involved in maintaining membrane fluidity. Reduced expression is observed in diabetic kidneys.
