ADORA2A antisense RNA 1 (ADORA2A-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) encoded on human chromosome 22 and is transcribed antisense to the ADORA2A gene[3]. It has been implicated in various cancers, including chronic myeloid leukemia, where it acts as a positive regulator of proliferation, cell cycle progression, and drug resistance by acting as a competing endogenous RNA to sponge miR-665, thereby modulating downstream gene targets such as TGFBR1 and ABCC2[2]. In hepatocellular carcinoma, ADORA2A-AS1 is proposed to function as a tumor suppressor by repressing proliferation and metastasis through binding HuR and affecting the FSCN1/AKT axis[1]. ADORA2A-AS1 is under investigation as a therapeutic and diagnostic biomarker in cancer, but it is not a classic protein-coding target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter[1][2][3].
