ADP-ribosylation factor 4 pseudogene 2 (ARF4P2) is a human genomic locus classified as a pseudogene, related in sequence to the protein-coding ARF4 gene from the ADP-ribosylation factor family[1][2][4][8][9]. Unlike its parent gene ARF4, which plays a role in vesicular trafficking, signaling, and cancer cell regulation[3][7], ARF4P2 does not encode a functional protein and is not considered a therapeutic target[1][2][9][10]. Pseudogenes such as ARF4P2 may have roles in RNA-based regulation, sometimes acting as microRNA decoys or influencing gene expression at the RNA level, though specific functional significance for ARF4P2 is unreported in the scientific literature[10]. ARF4P2 should not be confused with ARF GTPase 4 (ARF4), a member of the RAS superfamily of small GTPases and a target of interest in cancer and cell biology[3][5][7].
