Overview

ADP-ribosylation factor-like GTPase 17A (ARL17A) is a small GTP-binding protein structurally related to the ADP-ribosylation factor family. It is predicted to function as an allosteric activator of the cholera toxin catalytic subunit, an ADP-ribosyltransferase. ARL17A is involved in intracellular protein trafficking, with potential roles in vesicle budding and uncoating processes, especially within the Golgi apparatus. Its gene is located on chromosome 17. The protein is not currently established as a drug target, and there are no known interacting drugs or validated biomarker roles. Disease associations are noted with Koolen-De Vries syndrome and Glass syndrome, but ARL17A is not implicated as a direct driver or modulator in major human diseases[1][3][4][8][9].
