ARL9 is a small GTPase protein of the ARF-like (ARL) subclass in the RAS superfamily, sharing sequence similarity to the ADP-ribosylation factor (ARF) proteins. ARL9 is predicted to enable GTP binding and GTPase activity, with possible involvement in nervous system development. However, specific cellular functions, localization, and disease associations of ARL9 remain uncharacterized. Most ARL proteins regulate membrane trafficking, organelle structure, and cytoskeletal organization, but direct experimental data on ARL9 are lacking in the scientific literature.
