ADP-ribosyltransferase 2B, pseudogene (ART2BP) is a human gene that is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a functional protein product[4]. In rodents, related genes such as ARTC2.2 are functional and code for GPI-anchored ecto-ADP-ribosyltransferases that regulate immune cell surface signaling via ADP-ribosylation[1]. However, in humans, this gene is non-functional and does not produce an active enzyme[1][4]. Therefore, ART2BP does not serve as a therapeutic target, does not play known biological or disease roles, has no known interacting drugs, mechanisms of drug action, biomarker status, or safety concerns. Its aliases reflect older naming conventions or the rodent orthologs, but the human gene itself is not a druggable or functional entity[4][1]. In mice, ARTC2.2 is expressed and has immunoregulatory roles, especially in modulating interferon-gamma signaling, but the functional counterpart is missing in humans, where ART2BP is a pseudogene[1][4]. There are other ADP-ribosyltransferases in humans (such as ARTC1, PARP family), but ART2BP is not among the druggable or functional targets[6][3][4]. This entry does not refer to a functional therapeutic target in humans, and the gene is effectively a genomic remnant without protein-coding capacity or known biomedical relevance as a target or biomarker.
