Advanced Glycation End-Products (AGEs)

Target
AGEs
Molecular classification
Modified proteins, Modified lipids, Modified nucleic acids
01

Overview

Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) are a heterogeneous group of compounds formed through non-enzymatic reactions between reducing sugars and proteins, lipids, or nucleic acids. They accumulate in tissues over time and are implicated in the development or progression of several degenerative diseases, primarily through promoting oxidative stress and inflammation.
