Aftiphilin is a clathrin-associated adaptor protein that plays a significant role in intracellular membrane trafficking and protein sorting (UniProt Q6ULP2). It primarily functions at the trans-Golgi network and endosomes, where it interacts with the AP-1 adaptor complex and clathrin to facilitate vesicle formation and cargo transport (Hirst et al., 2005, Molecular Biology of the Cell).
