The AFTPH divergent transcript (AFTPH-DT) is a genomic element classified as a long non-coding RNA in divergent orientation to the *AFTPH* protein-coding gene[1]. Divergent transcripts are typically generated from the same promoter region as their associated coding gene, but in the opposite direction, and are frequently found in genes with CpG island promoters[3].
