Overview

AGK pseudogene 2 (AGKP2) is annotated as a pseudogene of acylglycerol kinase (AGK). Pseudogenes are non-functional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but have lost their protein-coding ability or are otherwise inactive due to mutations. There is no evidence that AGKP2 is translated into a functional protein, nor is there reported involvement in biological processes, disease pathology, drug interactions, or clinical biomarker use[5][6]. AGKP2 should not be confused with the functional gene AGK (acylglycerol kinase), which has been described as an oncogene and potential therapeutic target, but AGKP2 itself is not a characterized therapeutic target[5].
