Airway inflammation mediators are a diverse group of molecules—including cytokines (such as IL-6, IL-8, and IL-33), chemokines, lipid-derived mediators (prostaglandins, leukotrienes, lipoxins), biogenic amines (histamine, serotonin), peptides (bradykinin), and growth factors—released by airway and immune cells in response to injury, infection, or allergen challenge.
