AKAP13 antisense RNA 1 (AKAP13-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene discovered in the human genome, located on chromosome 15. It regulates gene expression potentially by modulating the expression or function of its sense counterpart AKAP13, which encodes a protein involved in key signaling pathways such as mTOR and GPCR signaling. AKAP13-AS1 itself does not encode a protein but may influence cellular cancer pathways, including acute myeloid leukemia progression, by acting as an upstream regulator in axes like ZNF667-AS1/miR-206/AKAP13. While AKAP13 is a recognized protein with signal transduction functionality and disease relevance, AKAP13-AS1 is not classified as a druggable target but may be relevant as a biomarker or in molecular diagnostic panels
