Overview

AKT interacting protein pseudogene (ENSG00000258681, LOC100128373) is a non-coding pseudogene in the human genome situated on chromosome 14. Pseudogenes like this one are genomic sequences resembling known genes (in this case, the AKTIP gene) but are generally non-functional, not producing protein. The actual AKTIP protein interacts with the serine/threonine kinase AKT and modulates its activity; however, the pseudogene does not encode a functional protein nor participate in biological processes or disease pathways. There is no evidence supporting its use as a therapeutic target or clinical biomarker, and it does not interact with drugs nor present safety concerns relevant to clinical pharmacology.
