Target intelligence / Profile preview

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family member A1 (ALDH1A1)

Target
ALDH1A1
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Oxidoreductase
01

Overview

ALDH1A1 is a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the NAD(P)+–dependent oxidation of aldehydes, playing a role in detoxification and cellular metabolism. It is primarily known for oxidizing retinaldehyde to retinoic acid, regulating gene transcription involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and development. It is also a cancer stem cell marker and contributes to chemoresistance.
