Alkaline Phosphatase, Placental-Like 2 (ALPPL2)

Target
ALPPL2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Hydrolase, Phosphatase, Membrane-bound glycoprotein
01

Overview

Alkaline Phosphatase, Placental-Like 2 (ALPPL2) is a membrane-bound glycosylated enzyme that belongs to the alkaline phosphatase family. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphate esters. ALPPL2 is primarily localized in the testis, thymus, and certain germ cell tumors. It is closely related to intestinal and placental alkaline phosphatases. While placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP) is a well-known tumor marker, ALPPL2 is also expressed in some testicular germ cell tumors and may serve as a marker for these malignancies.
