An allogeneic hepatocyte refers to a liver parenchymal cell (hepatocyte) that is transplanted from a genetically non-identical donor of the same species. Allogeneic hepatocyte transplantation is an emerging therapeutic approach for various liver diseases, including acute liver failure and inherited metabolic disorders. These cells function in metabolism, detoxification, protein synthesis, and bile production. Immunological rejection is a key challenge, addressed through immunosuppression or cell encapsulation.
