Alloreactive Recipient-Specific T Lymphocyte (allo-T)

01

Overview

Alloreactive recipient-specific T lymphocytes are a subset of T cells in a transplant recipient that specifically recognize and respond to donor antigens, primarily through recognition of non-self MHC molecules. These cells play a central role in mediating immune responses against allografts, leading to acute and chronic rejection after transplantation. They can be either CD4+ or CD8+ T lymphocytes and become activated via direct, indirect, and semi-direct pathways of allorecognition. Monitoring and targeting these cells are crucial for improving transplant outcomes.
