Target intelligence / Profile preview
The alpha-beta T cell receptor (αβ TCR) is a heterodimeric receptor expressed on the surface of most T lymphocytes. It recognizes peptide antigens presented by MHC molecules, initiating T cell activation and adaptive immune responses. The αβ TCR consists of alpha and beta chains, each with variable and constant regions. The variable regions mediate antigen recognition, while the constant regions associate with CD3 signaling complexes to trigger intracellular signaling cascades. αβ TCR diversity arises from V(D)J recombination during T cell development.
