Alpha-like Protein 1 N-terminal domain (Alp1N)

Target
Alp1N
Molecular classification
Surface Antigen, Immunogenic Protein
01

Overview

The Alpha-like Protein 1 N-terminal domain (Alp1N) is an immunogenic surface protein expressed by *Streptococcus agalactiae* (Group B Streptococcus, GBS). Alp1N is a key component for GBS serotyping and vaccine design. The exposed N-terminus of Alp1 provides type-specific epitopes essential both diagnostically and therapeutically. Fusion constructs containing Alp1N are central components in next-generation maternal vaccines aiming at neonatal protection against invasive GBS disease.
