Target intelligence / Profile preview
Alpha-synuclein oligomers are soluble, non-fibrillar aggregates formed by the assembly of several alpha-synuclein (α-syn) monomers. These oligomeric species are highly heterogeneous in terms of size, structure, and stability and play a central role in the pathogenesis of synucleinopathies. They disrupt cellular membranes, induce mitochondrial dysfunction, and promote oxidative stress. Alpha-synuclein oligomers represent promising targets for diagnostic biomarker development and therapeutic intervention strategies aimed at halting neurodegenerative progression.
