Alpha2C Adrenergic Receptor

Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, Receptor, GPCR rhodopsin family
01

Overview

The Alpha2C adrenergic receptor (α2C adrenoceptor), encoded by the ADRA2C gene, is a GPCR that regulates neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves and central adrenergic neurons. It plays a critical role in cardiovascular function and CNS functions like mood regulation. Dysregulation is implicated in diseases such as Alzheimer's.
