Overview

Aminoacyl tRNA synthetase complex interacting multifunctional protein 1 pseudogene 1 (AIMP1P1) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene found in the human genome[1]. Pseudogenes such as AIMP1P1 are homologous to protein-coding genes but have lost the ability to produce functional proteins, often due to mutations or truncations. Although pseudogenes may regulate the expression of related genes via ceRNA activity or by producing non-coding RNAs that affect gene regulation, AIMP1P1 has no documented biological function and is neither a receptor nor an enzyme. It does not have a known role in disease, nor is it considered a pharmacological target. The target is likely included due to misinterpretation of its name, as true therapeutic targets are generally protein-coding genes with functional products[1][4].

Mechanism of action

Not applicable

03

Biological functions

No protein-coding function; pseudogenes may act as regulatory elements, e.g., competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) modulating microRNA activity, but specific functions for AIMP1P1 are not documented
04

Disease associations

None directly attributed; no known connection to human disease. The related pseudogene BMI1P1 (not AIMP1P1) has been suggested as a biomarker in acute myeloid leukemia, but there is no evidence linking AIMP1P1 to such a role
