Overview

The AMME chromosomal region gene 1-like protein (AMMECR1L) is a nuclear protein predicted to play a modulatory role in nuclear processes, particularly as a paralog of AMMECR1. It contains a nucleic acid–binding RAGNYA fold and is known to dimerize in the nucleus. Evidence suggests that AMMECR1L may partially compensate for loss of AMMECR1 function, shown by increased AMMECR1L mRNA and protein in patients with AMMECR1 loss-of-function. This protein may regulate cell cycle events and gene expression control, with altered expression noted in renal cell carcinoma. However, its specific molecular function, implications as a therapeutic target, and drug interactions remain uncharacterized as of current data[2].
